Bethesda and Sparkypants Studios have announced a new upcoming story expansion for The Elder Scrolls Legends. Entitled, “Isle of Madness,” the expansion is inspired by the Daedric Prince Sheogorath; known as the Prince of Madness. Given the title, it’s likely the expansion name is a reference to Sheogorath’s realm of The Shivering Isles.
The Isle of Madness Story Expansion
Isle of Madness is the fourth story adventure for The Elder Scrolls Legends. “You broke the chains of captivity and saved the Empire as The Forgotten Hero.” states the announcement update, posted on the game’s website by Parker Wilhelm; “You uncovered a dastardly conspiracy in The Fall of The Dark Brotherhood. You’ve uncovered the lost artifacts of Sotha Sil in the Return to Clockwork City. Now, The Elder Scrolls: Legends’ next adventure sets sights somewhere beyond the comprehension of mere mortals in the Isle of Madness!”
The name is a clear reference to The Shivering Isles, the Daedric realm of Sheogorath. The isles featured in a major DLC of the same name for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Sheogorath also featured in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, the part he played was limited to a single side-quest.
“Isle of Madness is a story expansion for The Elder Scrolls: Legends,” continues the announcement post; “inspired by none other than Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. Wabbajack in hand, his brand of unpredictability tinges not just the quests you’ll encounter, but also the cards you earn for your Collection!”
Sheogorath is a fan-favorite character in the Elder Scrolls universe; ever since his appearance in Oblivion. The new expansion looks set to place him center-stage. Hopefully, the story is just as crazy and unpredictable as fans will no doubt expect. For now, details about what the expansion will include are sparse. “As for exactly how Isle of Madness will wreak chaos in The Elder Scrolls: Legends, you’ll just have to wait to learn more. Fret not, as Sheogorath knows the value of patience – how else do you get a fine age going on the cheese he enjoys so very much?”
