Bethesda Releases New “Laying the Cornerstones!” Fallout 76 Trailer

Bethesda has released the latest Fallout 76 trailer at Gamescom 2018; another edition of the company’s “Vault-Tec Presents” series. This trailer series has already covered several core gameplay elements, and this episode is no different. “Laying the Cornerstones!” focuses on Fallout 76’s new C.A.M.P. system and other building mechanics.

The C.A.M.P. and Fallout 76’s New Building Mechanics

The new Fallout 76 trailer was streamed recently at Gamescom, coming soon after Pete Hines announced a new Fallout 76 Xbox One X bundle. The emphasis of the new trailer is Fallout 76’s building and crafting mechanics, which are set to play a major role in the upcoming RPG. This is the second Fallout 76 trailer to look at building. The “A New American Dream!” trailer released two months ago, consisted of actual gameplay footage and clips from the newly released trailer.

It was previously revealed that Fallout 4’s building mechanics were implemented relatively late in the game’s development. That is the reason why very few of the game’s quests are tied to the building mechanics in any way; the mechanics were almost cut prior to release, in fact. However, they proved to be one of Fallout 4’s best features, so much so that Bethesda released several DLC packs adding in numerous new building options. Now, building seems to be one of Fallout 76’s foremost features. The new C.A.M.P. system is designed to make this as easy as possible.

The “Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform” is described in the trailer as the “workbench of tomorrow”. Resembling the Fallout 4 workbench, which was the central building tool in any settlement, the C.A.M.P. can actually be moved. It will allow players to pack up their bases and rebuild anywhere. As bases can now also be damaged or destroyed, players will be able to use blueprints to rebuild exactly how things were.
