Next week’s Fight Night Collection Event in Apex Legends is bringing a whole host of new content to the game, including a limited-time game mode and a Pathfinder Town Takeover. Alongside these headline content additions, Respawn will also be introducing an interesting new loot mechanic to the game’s Olympus map; Loot MRVNs.
How the New Apex Legends Loot MRVNs Work
“After having been previously decommissioned,” explains Respawn; “MRVNs are now programmed to reward Legends in the arena. Only appearing in Olympus, these friendly guys will give you loot after interacting with them. They’ll produce tiered loot equal to what is shown on their screens.”
When the Apex Legends Fight Night event goes live on the 5th of January, Loot MRVNs will appear throughout the Olympus map. Players can interact with them to cause a MRVN to drop loot. The quality of this loot depends on the face displayed on their screens. A MRVN with a sad white face will only drop Common level 1 loot. One with a passive blue face will drop Rare level 2 loot. Above that, a MRVN with a happy purple face will drop Epic level 3 loot. Finally, one with an ecstatic yellow face will drop the best Legendary level 4 loot.
However, above and beyond this loot system, players can also shoot the MRVNs. This may cause the robot to drop one of their arms, which you can pick up and keep in your inventory. If you take this arm to another MRVN which is missing the same limb, they may give you a special reward. Respawn hasn’t revealed exactly what this reward is, so players will have to find out when the event goes live. During the course of the event, the standard ‘Play Apex’ mode will be taken over by the new Airdrop Escalation mode. Together with this mode’s supply drops, the new loot MRVNs should ensure that players have no shortage of loot.
