The latest Battlefield 5 Firestorm update is now available, and it brings some significant changes to the game mode’s Halvøy map, among other new features and tweaks. These include three entirely new landmarks and a very powerful new Gold Tier weapon; the so-called “Elephant Gun”. Of course, this being an update, it also addresses a host of bugs, balance issues, and general performance.
New Improvements on the Way for Battlefield 5 Firestorm
The first and most obvious change which has been brought to Battlefield 5 Firestorm is the addition of three new map locations. These are the Blue Forest, Excavation Site, and Watchtowers. Blue Forest is a woodland area carpeted in vibrant blue flowers to be found west of the dam. The region provides a stark contrast to the fiery ring encircling the map, and the destruction going on within it. The Excavation Site is another large new region, which is south east of the quarry. Finally, the Watchtowers can be found on the map’s southwest coast, in-between Guderos and Baldr’s Point. Fans can find these new areas in-game, or check them out in the online Interactive Map.
The second and highly significant addition is the “Elephant Gun”. This new weapon is an extremely powerful Boys AT Rifle, and is the first ‘Gold Tier’ weapon in Firestorm. Until now, the mode has featured three rarity tiers; Common, Rare, and Epic. Gold is a fourth tier set above Epic. Although the odds are slim, it can be found in supply drops, and even lockers and safes. The weapon itself, as its name suggests, packs massive stopping power and is designed to damage vehicles.
Further Changes and Patch Notes
In addition to the map and weapon additions, the latest Battlefield 5 Firestorm update also includes plenty of fixes and other changes. “Clipping issues,” explains DICE; “floating objects, and other minor graphical artifacts have been fixed. As detailed in our Community Broadcast, we’ve adjusted the lighting of soldiers to make them a bit more visible when in dark areas”. Artillery Strike shells, meanwhile, have been nerfed somewhat, while score changes have been made as well. Your overall score for surviving or winning in Firestorm has been increased, and you’ll also earn score when your squadmates get kills, downs, or squad wipes.
