With the upcoming launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3, Multiplayer fans can look forward to both new maps and game modes coming to the game very soon. Indeed, two of the four new maps will be available at launch, alongside the enormously-popular Sticks and Stones game mode.
Black Ops Cold War Season 3: New Maps
There will be four new maps coming to Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer in Season 3. The first two, which will be available at launch, will be Yamantau and Diesel. “Bury your enemies in an avalanche of firepower as you fight through the crumbled remains of the Soviet observatory on Mount Yamantau,” writes Activision; “Battle through a massive downed satellite dish, snowy interiors, and broken catwalks […]”
Yamantau will be a 6v6 map, while Diesel, which is set in an arid region of the US, is available in three different sizes; 6v6, 3v3, and 2v2. Later in the season, the game will be getting a third 6v6 map, called Standoff. This map is a reworked classic which first appeared in Black Ops II. Finally, a new Multi-Team map will also arrive mid-season. Duga takes place in the Ural Mountains and offers a wide expanse of different environments, from close-quarters office buildings to wide open spaces and more. This map will actually be coming to Outbreak as a new region at the start of Season 3, giving Multiplayer fans an early look.
Black Ops Cold War Season 3: New Game Modes
Alongside the new maps, Season 3 will also feature at least two new game modes. Of these two, the classic ‘Sticks and Stones’ party mode will be available at launch. In Sticks and Stones, every player is given an R1 Shadowhunter crossbow, Ballistic Knife, and Tomahawk. Kills with either the crossbow or knife earn you points, but if a player kills you with their Tomahawk, your score will reset back to zero!
Later in the season, Treyarch will introduce Multi-Team Elimination, a new large-scale game mode for the biggest Multi-Team maps. Featuring teams of four, like other Multi-Team modes, players will need to avoid radiation zones, while fighting with restricted loadouts. The latter aspect means that you’ll need to scavenge gear as you go, including Scorestreaks, Redeploy Tickets, and weapons.
