Next Thursday, on the 9th of September, Treyarch will be releasing Season 5 Reloaded; the next major content update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Included amongst a host of new content is a notable expansion for Onslaught; the game’s PlayStation-exclusive Zombies mode.
Season 5 Reloaded – Onslaught Drive-In & Diminishing Light
Most of the new Zombies content coming in Season 5 Reloaded will be arriving in Outbreak. That mode will receive a new Region, Armada, as well as the new Black Chest World Event. The round-based maps, meanwhile, will get a new mechanic with Rampage Inducers allowing players to increase the difficulty. However, PlayStation owners will be getting a few extras in the new update.

Onslaught is a two-player, horde-style mode which has been exclusive to PlayStation since the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. (The only platform-exclusive piece of content in the game.) With the release of Season 5 Reloaded, Onslaught will be getting a brand-new map called Onslaught Drive-In. More significantly, however, it will also get a new limited-time game mode; Dimishing Light.
Dimishing Light adds an extra layer of difficulty to the traditional Onslaught format. In this mode, an Orb of light will slowly collapse. If it ever collapses completely, it will implode, instantly killing both players. Fortunately, the Orb resets to its starting size each time players complete a Surge. Additionally, players can shoot the Orb to slow down its rate of decay. Clock power-ups can also be claimed to temporarily pause its progress. Players who successfully complete 30 Surges in Diminishing Light will unlock a new Legendary Weapon Blueprint. This special reward is the “Soviet Red” Legendary Assault Rifle. Diminishing Light is a limited-time mode, so players who want to get their hands on Soviet Red should aim to complete the challenge sooner rather than later.
