Perk Cards are one of the biggest changes coming to the Fallout franchise with Fallout 76. The system completely revamps the Fallout perk and levelling system seen in previous games, allowing players to pick and choose from among a collection of cards which can be switched out on the fly. Some cards have previously been revealed in gameplay videos and presentations, and players have uncovered more in the currently ongoing BETA. However, a new datamine has uncovered two new sets of cards.
New Fallout 76 Perk Cards From the Datamine
The results of the datamine were shared on Reddit by a user who goes by “ConfidenceCat”; a huge list of almost 60 Perk Cards and their effects at different tiers. One of the most interesting are the details for the Mysterious Stranger Perk Cards. Although it was known that this card existed for the Luck S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attribute, but not exactly how it works. Now we have a rough idea, although some questions remain unanswered:
Mysterious Stranger (Luck)
- The Mysterious Stranger will appear occasionally in V.A.T.S. to lend a hand.
- The Mysterious Stranger appears more often when using V.A.T.S.
- The Mysterious Stranger appears so much in V.A.T.S. he knows you by name.
Footage has yet to emerge of the Mysterious Stranger in Fallout 76. As a result, exactly what form he will take is unknown. Without human NPCs in the game, it’s unclear whether he will actually be the game’s only human NPC, or whether he will be a non-human character, such as a ghoul or robot. Beyond that question, the Perk details sound as though the ability will function similarly to how it has worked in previous games.
One interesting note is in the third stage of the card, where it says that; “he knows you by name”. It sounds as though this could work in a similar manner to how Codsworth was able to say hundreds of possible player names in Fallout 4. However, it’s unknown exactly what it will mean in-game.
