Ever since it was originally announced, much of the attention surrounding the highly anticipated Resident Evil 2 remake has been focused on protagonist Leon Scott Kennedy. Now, to celebrate the week’s Gamescom gaming conference, Capcom has finally given the game’s *other* protagonist, college student-turned-zombie slayer Claire Redfield her due courtesy of a brand new screenshot album.
Much as was the case in the original Resident Evil 2 release, Claire’s primary motivation for travelling to Raccoon City is to find her brother Chris (one of the playable protagonists in the original Resident Evil). However, upon arrival, Claire ends up finding much more than she bargained for as she has to suddenly survive on city streets that are teaming with the walking dead and other horrors.
Here’s a synopsis of Claire’s predicament courtesy of a new press release from Capcom:
“Showcased at Gamescom for the first time today, players join college student Claire Redfield as she searches for her missing brother, Chris. As she arrives in Raccoon City, she’s thrown into the middle of a zombie outbreak taking over the city. Dodging dangers left and right, Claire runs to safety in the Raccoon City Police Station. As she tries to find a way out of this nightmare, Claire finds Sherry Birkin, a young girl abandoned in the underground area beneath the police station. Together they face the iconic series boss and mutating enemy ‘G’. Will Claire and Sherry make it out the Police Station alive or will they run into further dangers? She’ll have to battle for their lives as she takes on this living and breathing nightmare creature.”
In other Gamescom-related Capcom news, the equally anticipated Devil May Cry 5 got both a release date and a slick new gameplay trailer as part of its Gamescom presence. Those who are attending Gamescom in person can also try out a playable build of the latest devil-slaying title for themselves.
