After teasing that fans could expect news for Total War: Warhammer 2 in September last month, Creative Assembly today posted another teaser on social media. Coming in the form of a torn ‘Hunters Wanted’ posted, the teaser is strongly indicative that a Total War: Warhammer 2 Empire update is on the horizon; something which fans of the franchise have been hoping for for a very long time.
Is Creative Assembly Teasing a Total War: Warhammer 2 Empire Update?
The torn poster shared by Creative Assembly cuts off somebody’s face, but does bear the writing; “Hunters Wanted. Fancy a fine voyage beyond the borders of Reikland? Treasures and trophies await for all that can track troublesome beasts in the jungle. Adventure for the fearless and soon-to-be-wealthy! Sign up today!”
Firstly, this seems to a very strong indication that the next update will be for the Total War: Warhammer 2 Empire faction. Creative Assembly has released updates for several of the factions from the first game in the series already. However, the Empire has not yet received the same treatment. Because of this, and because the Empire is currently the only non-DLC faction in the two games which has less than four Legendary Lords, fans have been hoping for an Empire update for a long time.
Furthermore, the poster appears to be teasing that the new Empire content could add a new Legendary Lord. Not only that, but the update could take players beyond the borders of the Empire. The mention of hunting “in the jungle,” seems to indicate that the new Legendary Lord may start in either Lustria or the Southlands. (Perhaps in the existing Sudenberg faction, or a new colony faction.) While the poster doesn’t confirm anything, of course, there is also a good chance that the new Legendary Lord could be Markus Wulfhart; the Huntsmarshal of the Empire.
Wulfhart is a famous monster-slayer who leads a band of hunters throughout the Empire. He wields a magical bow gifted to him by Emperor Karl Franz himself. Of course, there are other Lord possibilities. However, Wulfhart certainly stands out among the possible Empire characters; many of whom, like Kurt Hellborg or Ludwig Schwarzhelm, are not all that different from the generic Empire generals. For now, fans will have to stay tuned throughout September for the next actual announcement from Creative Assembly!
