There are already plenty of Witcher 3 graphics mods around, for players looking to boost the graphics of the 2015 title. However, an impressive new Witcher 3 mod is now available which goes a bit further in one area. Entitled the “Next Generation Level of Detail” mod, it adds new meshes to the White Orchard and Velen regions.
The New Witcher 3 Mod: Next Generation Level of Detail
Although the mod is still in beta, its effects on the game’s graphics are impressive. The mod is the work of a NexusMods user who goes by “Boostin4kix Linas ScoutBr0”. Essentially, the mod replaces the game’s existing meshes with new, high-quality custom meshes. As a result, the the render distance is greatly extended, and the level of detail for distant buildings, objects, etc. is increased. In fact, the mod allows other custom textures to become visible from almost any distance. For now, as stated above, the Next Generation Level of Detail mod works only in White Orchard and Velen. The mod creator states in the description that; “There are no plans for Skellige or Toussaint”.
Given the way that this mod is designed, it’s probably best used alongside other custom texture mods. The mod doesn’t actually add in any new, high-quality textures; what it does do is greatly increase the render distance and visibility of such textures. Luckily, players should find no shortage of graphics mods for the Witcher 3 online. In fact, the mod’s creator, Boostin4kix Linas ScoutBr0, recommends the HD Reworked Project mod in their own mod’s description.
Of course, what with this being a BETA version of the mod, players may encounter some bugs. The creator states in the description that there shouldn’t be any major bugs or anything which could directly interfere with somebody’s play-through. For installation recommendations, you should check the full description on NexusMods.
