The Next Battlefield 5 Patch Will Address Issues With Chapter 4

DICE has promised that the next upcoming Battlefield 5 patch will address some of the core issues currently in the game; problems largely introduced by the first Chapter 4 update. Focusing on improving stability and other areas, Update 4.4 will also bring new maps and a big change to the rank system. Players will be able to rank past rank 50, all the way to Rank 500.

Battlefield 5 Patch 4.4 Will Address Stability Issues and More

“Our next game update, 4.4, contains fixes for stuttering issues,” explains Senior Producer Ryan MacArthur, in an open letter on the Battlefield 5 website; “desyncs seen on hitboxes, as well as some tweaks to the Commorose. The next few updates will improve game stability, UI communication around damage, and many other items the community flagged.”

Much of these changes are intended to fix issues which were introduced by the last update; the one which launched Chapter 4 of Tides of War. While this update added plenty of new content to the game, it also seems to have caused problems. MacArthur reiterates during his open letter that fixing these problems is DICE’s top priority; “We’ve been hard at work to address these with several updates and will continue to do so until Battlefield V is where it should be. We’re fully committed to expanding and improving our core multiplayer experience”. Indeed, he also announced in the letter that DICE would be cancelling a planned 5v5 competitive game mode in order to focus on other areas. (Although the studio instead plans to bring competitive gameplay support to existing modes.)

Of course, alongside the fixes, the next Battlefield 5 patch will be bringing new content of its own. The update will be adding two new maps; Lofoten Islands and Provence. Plus, it will also be removing the Rank 50 cap. Players will now be able to rise all the way to Rank 500! Every 50 ranks, players will earn a ‘Promotion’ and a Company Coin reward. This rank change will also introduce new Dog Tags and Career Rank Icons.
