As Season 4 continues in Black Ops Cold War and players get a chance to play through Operation Excision, Treyarch is apparently putting the finishing touches to the next round-based Zombies map; Mauer der Toten. This map is coming later this season, and we now have a good idea when.
Black Ops Cold War Zombies – Mauer der Toten
According to Treyarch’s latest update, the new Call of Duty Zombies map will be coming at the mid-point of Season 4. That point will be arriving later this month, although Treyarch hasn’t announced a precise date yet. However, we do know that it is now only a few weeks away, at most. Mauer der Toten will be the next round-based Zombies map; the first since the launch of Firebase Z back in Season 1. It will be the third such map, continuing the Dark Aether storyline which began in Die Maschine.
Through Seasons 2 and 3, the Dark Aether story has continued, but in the game’s Outbreak mode rather than in standalone round-based maps. Outbreak has seen numerous expansions in recent months, the latest being Operation Excision. This mission became available at the start of Season 4, and according to Treyarch, it serves as a prologue for the events of Mauer der Toten. As such, players may wish to complete it as best they can before the launch of the next map.
At present, we don’t know much about what the next Call of Duty Zombies map will bring to the game. We do know that Mauer der Toten is an urban map which takes place on the streets of East Berlin. According to previous info released by Treyarch, the city has been overrun by an undead invasion. Beyond that, the only tidbit of information was that it will include; “terrifying undead threats for players to conquer,” implying that new enemies will feature in the map. In their latest update, Treyarch teased that players can expect; “our next upgradeable Zombies Perk,” “new Omega technology,” and more.
