NHL 20 Beta Now Available, Commentary & Features Preview Videos Arrive Online

While EA Sports has been busy getting ready for the launch of Madden 20 and promoting FIFA 20, another game getting recent publicity is NHL 20. As of Friday, EA officially launched the NHL 20 beta to get gamers’ feedback on the upcoming hockey simulation game. In addition, they’ve released a number of new videos to show off the gameplay and preview the new commentary team in NHL 20.

NHL 20 Beta is currently available

During the NHL Awards a few months ago, EA revealed the first look at their cover star Auston Matthews. Soon after, more details arrived for the game including gameplay trailers and features. Now, fans are finally able to start testing out specific parts of the new game in a free-to-play test version.

EA officially launched their NHL 20 open beta for players as of Friday, July 26. The open beta is currently free for gamers to play on either the Sony PlayStation 4 or Microsoft Xbox One. The open beta will allow gamers to try the World of CHEL and all-new Eliminator mode out ahead of the game’s official release in September. Visit the link in the tweet below for full details on how to participate in the beta.

EA’s NHL 20 open beta is a good way for gamers to see what the new features are like. In addition, those who are trying the features out can provide feedback to EA’s NHL 20 developers so they can potentially make any tweaks or enhancements to the game for release. The NHL 20 open beta runs through July 31 on PS4 and Xbox One.

EA unveils gameplay & commentary previews

In a video that runs nearly a minute and a half, EA presents many of the new NHL 20 features. In particular, they’ve highlighted their World of Chel mode which will now include an all-new Ones Eliminator along with the NHL Threes Eliminator modes. They’ve also added weekly Chel Challenges where gamers can unlock different rewards as they complete each challenge. Check out the full video below showing off some of what’s new. One of the other major aspects mentioned for the game’s overhaul is the brand new presentation including commentary. After several years of NBC Sports commentators, it was time for a change. This year, the NHL 20 title features a brand new duo handling the play-by-play and color commentary throughout the games.

That new team consists of James Cybulski and Ray Ferraro. Ferraro has worked with TSN Radio, TSN, and NBC Sports Network. Canadian broadcaster James Cybulski was a host on TSN Radio 1050 and a television sportscaster/interviewer in his previous jobs.

Cybulski and Ferraro replace the previous team to try to bring a fresh new perspective to how the game is presented. Many gamers are welcoming the change after the monotony of the previous commentary team started to run its course.

The new NHL 20 game is set for a release date of September 13, 2019 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. See details about NHL 20 pre-orders here.
