On Thursday, EA unveiled more of their upcoming NHL 20 player ratings. The latest batch of players includes those in the top 50, although it’s only those leading up to No. 21 overall. Most likely that means they’ll have a top 20 reveal, or reveal the next 10, five, and final five in the coming week. For now, we can take a look at the latest players and see where they are ahead of the game’s release. We can also see a few that may have been underrated.
New NHL 20 player ratings include P.K. Subban, Artemi Panarin
There have already been players’ ratings revealed via Twitter, but now we have a more in-depth look at top 50 caliber players. Within the first few players shown in the top 50 list, we see last year’s cover star P.K. Subban. He’ll pick up where he left off with an 88 overall again to start the campaign with NHL 20 player ratings. Subban is one of a number of 88s there along with Dylan Larkin, Jonathan Huberdeau, Jack Eichel, and Jonathan Toews.
Brayden Point is the first of many players with a 90 overall in the NHL 20 game. He’s among 16 guys in the NHL 20 player ratings who were just below a 90. Artemi Panarin is one of the 89s and many in the gaming community already feel he’s the most “underrated” on this list. Another is Mark Giordano. Last season’s Norris winner comes in with an 89 OVR.
As far as the players who check in with a 90 for their NHL 20 player ratings, we’ve got David Pastrnak, Brent Burns, Sergei Bobrovskiy, Tuuka Rask, and Erik Karlsson. The list leads right up to the top 20 players overall who should be announced very soon.
We’re expecting the new NHL 20 cover athlete will be amongst those players. The Toronto Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews graces the front of this year’s game. He was No. 26 overall last year with an 89 OVR but has clearly received a boost as he heads into the new NHL 20 season.
Other players likely to be top 10-20 stars include Steven Stamkos, Sidney Crosby, Conor McDavid, and Alexander Ovechkin. Check out more detailed attribute cards and player likenesses for the top 50 at the EA website here.
The game itself officially releases on September 13, 2019. However, gamers who pre-order select NHL 20 editions will get to start playing the title three days earlier.
