EA has revealed several more top 10 lists for their NHL 21 player ratings. We first saw the top 10 goalies, followed by the top 10 defensemen. Now the focus is on the star players in the left and right wing positions. Leading the way for the two separate sides are cover star Alex Ovechkin and recent Stanley Cup champion Nikita Kucherov.
Ovechkin leads all left wings in NHL 21 player ratings
On Wednesday (Oct. 7), EA showed off the top 10 when it comes to left wings for NHL 21 player ratings. It’s no surprise that NHL 21 cover star Alex Ovechkin is the best of the group, with his 93 overall rating leading the way.
Ovechkin tied Bostonβs David Pastrnak for total goals in the shortened 2020 NHL season with 48. He also racked up 19 assists for the Washington Capitals in 68 games and continues to be a major force on the ice each season he plays.
Speaking of Boston, it’s the Bruins’ Brad Marchand who skates into second with a 91 overall rating, followed by Jonathan Huberdeau (Panthers) and Artemi Panarin (Rangers). Completing the top five is Taylor Hall of the Arizona Coyotes who gets an 88 OVR.
Here’s a look at the complete top 10 list for left wings in the game:
Kucherov leads all right wings in game
The 27-year-old Nikita Kucherov leads all right wings for the NHL 21 player ratings with a 92 OVR. This past season was cut short due to COVID-19, but Kucherov had 33 goals and 52 assists in 68 games. In the Stanley Cup Finals, Kucherov scored just one goal but assisted on seven others for eight total points.
During the postseason, Kucherov set a new playoff record in terms of total points in one postseason for a Tampa Bay player. His 28th point surpassed the previous record-holder Brad Richards.
Two players are tied with 91 overall ratings as the Boston Bruins’ David Pastrnak and Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane land at No. 2 and 3 on the list. Rounding out the top five is Colorado’s Mikko Rantanen and Toronto’s Mitchell Marner, who each have 90 OVRs.
EA indicated they’ll count down the full top 50 for their NHL 21 player ratings as of Thursday, October 8. So it should be interesting to see which player tops them all. Will Conor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers once again skate away with that honor, or could a new player take the top spot? Stay tuned.
EA’s NHL 21 game arrives for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 16, 2020, with gamers who bought select pre-order editions able to play the game three days earlier.
