NHL 22 Features: Roster Sharing to Arrive After Game’s Release Date

One of the popular features in many sports video games is being able to customize rosters. Even better is when fans can upload rosters for other people to use, such as previous season’s teams. With the upcoming NHL 22 features, they will bring back custom roster sharing for the game. However, it won’t be there on the game’s release date. Here are more details about the upcoming feature in EA’s NHL game.

NHL 22 features include Roster Sharing

On Monday, EA revealed some of the upcoming NHL 22 features and updates that fans can look forward to in select modes. One of those reveals was NHL 22 roster sharing. In the video clip below, they go over what it will bring to the simulation experience.

“Share your custom rosters with the community, or download rosters made by community creators,” the text says under the feature.

Based on the video, users can customize, save, and upload their rosters in NHL 22 Franchise Mode. Other gamers can download custom rosters from the community. They’re then available to use in their “favorite mode” of the game.

The video shows some “work in progress screens” for the NHL 22 roster sharing feature. One screen shows roster names, likes, downloads, and date uploaded. The narrator mentions this is something the community has been asking for for a while now so they’re glad to finally have it.

Roster Sharing menu options revealed

During a reveal video about various modes in EA’s NHL 22, we got an overview of the roster sharing menu options. A screenshot below reveals that gamers can download files, share their own, and access their active roster or saved files.

They also provided an example of a customized roster that someone might create featuring top hockey prospects for others to use in their Franchise mode. Community creators will likely take things to another level with this option now part of the game.

EA released longer video with NHL 22 Roster Sharing overview

The clip above about roster sharing is part of a longer video covering NHL 22 features. The video, released on Monday, October 4, also includes coverage of Be a Pro and Franchise Mode.

Other topics in the video include Be a Pro X-Factor Abilities, an upgraded Conversation System with storylines, and an expanded Legacy meter. There’s even some talk of that brand new expansion team, the Seattle Kraken.

Check out the 18-minute video below to get more details on the big changes coming to NHL 22. Discussion of roster sharing arrives at the 14:06 mark of the video.

Customization at launch, Roster Sharing arrives after game’s release

Much like EA’s Madden 22 added a Scouting feature at a later date, the NHL 22 roster sharing feature will be added after the game’s release date.

Per the video, gamers will be able to customize rosters as soon as they have the game at launch. However, sharing won’t be available until December 2021.

The video mentions “early December 2021,” and the narrator indicates it will arrive in a patch for NHL 22. So far, there’s no clear cut date as to exactly when the feature will be in the game.

The NHL’s 2021 season officially begins on October 12, while EA’s NHL 22 release date is set for Friday, October 15. However, certain pre-orders will get early access to start playing the game on October 12.

NHL 22 will be available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4 consoles. See more details via EA’s website here.
