NHL 22 World of Chel Deep Dive Reveals More Skater Customization, Upgraded Hub for Mode

Several years ago, EA’s NHL game debuted World of Chel, an online mode where gamers could play “pond hockey” against others. Basically, it involved creating a character and then progressing through levels and upgrades by playing various types of games. The mode has continued to be a part of each release since then with changes in each release. It will get several key upgrades as a new NHL 22 World of Chel arrives in October.

NHL 22 World of Chel Deep Dive video drops

On Sunday, August 29th, EA released a new video that is a bit under 30 minutes and offers an NHL 22 World of CHEL Deep Dive. The video features commentary from Clappy, NHL 22 Community Manager, and Ariel Giovannetti, NHL 22 WOC Associate Producer.

During the YouTube video below, fans of EA NHL World of Chel can learn about all of the changes coming in NHL 22’s mode. They’ll include much-improved player customization, a better HUB with easier options for matchmaking, and more.

Skater customization getting more options

Based on feedback from their community, EA said they chose to offer “more customization and freedom” for creating NHL 22 skaters. They mention the 12 classes of skaters are still the same in the upcoming game, but each class will also offer “five powerful X-Factor Zone Abilities.” That will give gamers something to think about when they creating a customized skater loadout.

There are also Superstar Abilities, which will be available for all classes of skaters. As an example, they say you can create a defensive player with “incredible shooting” or a “playmaker who can lay the body.”

EA revealed more about player Superstars and X-Factors in the NHL 22 trailer we recently saw debut.

It’s noted that Superstar Abilities require hitting specific attribute thresholds to unlock them during games. However, they’ve made it possible to edit any attribute plus or minus five points. With this, you can take points away from a certain attribute in the same category and use them to boost another.

The video above explores this area much more, to show how attributes can be changed with the points.

NHL 22 World of Chel Hub and User Interface Upgrades

The NHL 22 World of CHEL Hub and upgrade User Interface should make navigation around the mode and various options easier. The new UI takes away having to load multiple screens to get to a specific part of the mode, as it’s as easy as a “tap” to get to specific areas.

EA also mentioned in their NHL 22 Deep Dive that there’s an all-new social widget to invite friends to a party and then head to any mode together easily. The party leader will be able to change the mode and bring the rest of the group with just a “click of a button” which could make it much easier for a group of people to get where they want.

More details coming about NHL 22 game

NHL fans are hoping the World of Chel upgrades will help and not hurt the mode. However, many fans of the EA hockey sim game are still waiting for other trailers and previews for their favorite modes in the game. Based on the debtails given in the video above, they’ll be coming but not all immediately.

An uncut gameplay video drops on September 28, which is something many fans are looking forward to. On October 4, the Be a Pro and Franchise modes get Deep Dive details. Closing out their schedule will be a Deep Drive for Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) on October 6.

The NHL 22 release date is set for October 15 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One consoles.
