Ninjala is an Arms Meets Splatoon-Style Action Game From the Co-Producer of Dissidia Final Fantasy

Ninjala is an upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive action game set to release next year in Spring 2019. If you hadn’t heard of it until now, we aren’t surprised. The game first popped up during Nintendo’s E3 2018 showcase during a sizzle reel. It didn’t have much of a focus on it at all unlike Super Smash Bros Ultimate and other games. Regardless, you should know about this bizarre action game that has a style that is similar to a crossover between Splatoon and Arms.

Ninjala is being developed by GungHo Online Entertainment, best known for the Ragnarok and Ragnarok Odyssey series, as well as the publisher of Suda 51’s free PS4 game, Let It Die. Though the developer isn’t super well known, it does have some notable talent that is working on this game. The designer of it is Takeshi Arakawa, who is the former co-producer of the Dissidia Final Fantasy series.

He and GungHo CEO, Kazuki Morishita, recently had an interview with Bahamut and revealed a ton of info regarding Ninjala. It is a 3D action game that is meant for both children and adults alike, hence its colorful and charming art style. The lore of the game revolves around the “Ninja Bubble Gum” that allows children to use ninjutsu. The bubble gum can be shaped into various weapons for combat.

The story mode contains eight different playable characters who each have their own unique backstory. Battles take place with up to eight players fighting at once, shaping the Ninja Bubble Gum into weapons to take down their enemies. Hitting opponents with the chewy weapons will rack up points, with the person with the most points at the end crowned the winner of the match. There is, of course, multiplayer in Ninjala so you can compete against other players. While we wait for it to release in Spring 2019, we recommend checking out this great sale on Switch games.
