Nintendo Facing Backlash Due to Misleading FIFA 19 Promotion

It’s no secret that the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 19 is one of the most ill-received. With many members of the community lashing against the hybrid console’s version due to its lack of features. This problem only grew more apparent thanks to a promotional Nintendo made for the game which featured content that wasn’t in the Switch version.

A few days ago, EA launched the FUTMAS event as a promotion for Ultimate Team. This event adds daily player squad building challenges (SBCs) so users are able to improve their players more. However, it was made abundantly clear (in a small print) that the FUTMAS SBCs would not be available on the Switch version of the game.

Nintendo’s Misunderstanding Leads to Misleading Promotion

Nintendo immediately made a promotional regarding FIFA 19’s FUTMAS event. On the Nintendo of America Twitter Account, Nintendo tells players to look out for huge pack promotions and exclusive themed kits. However, this was said despite not having any of these features available in the Switch version of FIFA 19.

More outrageously, Nintendo even made a promotional article about the event for the console’s News section. You can take a look from the screenshots we took from the News section of the Switch.

As a result, a backlash from FIFA 19 fans came to fruition. Subsequently, angry Twitter posts directed towards the Japanese company for the misleading nature of the promotional tweet came in droves.

Oddly enough, even after days of this event happening, neither Nintendo and EA have responded to this particular issue. Certainly, this would probably make a lot of people wonder what’s happening over at Nintendo of America. What do you think about this troublesome situation?
