Nintendo Would Love to See a Red Dead Redemption 2 Nintendo Switch Port

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime recently stated that he would “love” to see a Red Dead Redemption 2 Nintendo Switch version. This news comes soon after The Game Awards 2018 last week. It was there that Nintendo pulled several crazy stunts like joining together with the other two publishers, announcing Joker in Smash, and even securing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 as an exclusive.

After all of that, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime took the time to conduct an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The interview went over various topics including the recent Black Friday sales, the Smash DLC announcement, and more. However, there is one particular topic that is far more interesting and intriguing than the rest. This is mostly due to Fils-Aime’s very clear answer.

Nintendo Would Love a Red Dead Redemption 2 Nintendo Switch Port

Absolutely. We’d love for it to be there. But again — and this is where there needs to be an understanding of just the development process — Red Dead has been in development for years, time that predated any communication of Nintendo Switch. So, from the developer’s mentality, they need to move forward and finish the game they’ve been working on and then be in a position to look at other opportunities. Any game from a key third-party that’s coming out now, typically that development started well before any conversations about Nintendo Switch. What happens moving forward? We’ll see. But that’s how you wind up with a situation with Red Dead not being available on our platform.

The Hollywood Reporter inquired with a simple question: Does the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption 2 Nintendo Switch version interest Nintendo? It’s Fils-Aime answer that has fans excited. You can find the entire answer below:

Rockstar Games has supported the Nintendo Switch already with L.A. Noire so a Red Dead Redemption 2 Nintendo Switch version doesn’t seem impossible. However, we’ll have to wait and see as a PC version hasn’t been announced either.
