Fans still have around four months to wait before the release of Fallout 76. Clearly, many are using the time to revisit older titles in the series; Fallout 4’s sales have spiked since the announcement of Fallout 76, enough to put the title on most top 10 best-selling retail charts. Of course, many mod-makers are still hard at work on mods for Fallout 4. Players looking to experience something new in the 2015 title might wish to try the Fallout 4 Northern Springs mod; an expansion which adds a region larger than even the Far Harbor DLC to the game.
The Fallout 4 Northern Springs Mod
Northern Springs is a Patreon-funded mod uploaded on NexusMods by user Jshrapnelc, which released last week. “Northern Springs is a massive DLC which adds a whole new location larger than both Nuka World and Far Harbor,” claims the mod’s description; “An enormous land to explore with new quests, new weapons, new armour, settlements and much more to find. A true DLC that naturally expands & adds beyond the Commonwealth further to the North.”
According to the creator, Northern Springs is the product of two years of near-daily work. The mod includes over 25 quests, along with radiant quests, and four “jobs”; Cage Fighter, Deathclaw Hunter, Book Collector, and Bounty Hunter. There are also four new followers, who are fully voiced, with the option to unlock the original game’s Vault-Tec representative as a companion. The region contains an additional three settlements and a whole host of new locations and equipment. Northern Springs is designed to challenge characters of level 40 and above; the creator makes clear that players should expect a high degree of difficulty.
The mod information on NexusMods also lists credits for musical scores and acting, as well as a list of known bugs. The creator has stated that they will continue to work on it over time.
