Far Cry 5’s Guns-for-Hire system will be making its return in Far Cry New Dawn when the game launches later this week. Although the spin-off title won’t have quite as many companions as its predecessor; it does feature a roster of both new and familiar faces. The only Far Cry 5 Gun-for-Hire to be returning as one of the Far Cry New Dawn Guns-for-Hire is Hurk. However, players will also be able to call on the assistance of Pastor Jerome, another character who first appeared in Far Cry 5.
Far Cry New Dawn Guns-for-Hire: Pastor Jerome, the “Berserker”
Pastor Jerome was a character in Far Cry 5’s main story, particularly in the storyline dealing with John Seed. The pastor of Fall’s End, he was a leader of the local resistance, and certainly made an impression for himself; he wore a bulletproof vest over his pastor’s attire and used a revolver which he kept in a hollow Bible.
Although he was never available as a companion, he did fight alongside players on a few occasions during Far Cry 5. Seventeen years later, Jerome may have grey hair but he has evidently not lost any of his ability. After all, the old pastor’s in-game role is said to be “Berserker”! His focus appears to be fire, as he gains access to a variety of incendiary options.
Like Hurk, Pastor Jerome’s initial ability slot is actually a vehicle, suggesting that he will spawn with it when players summon him. For Jerome, this vehicle is a Motorbike, while Hurk’s is an ATV. Another new companion, Gina Guerra, has an armed car. The other three Far Cry New Dawn Guns-for-Hire have character abilities in the slot instead of vehicles. After his motorbike, Jerome’s second ability is ‘Holy Fire,’ which allows him to throw Molotov Cocktails. Finally, his third ability is ‘Blessed Bullets,’ which gives him powerful incendiary ammunition.
