The return of PGA Tour golf will be awesome for many fans to say the least. That’s why Mike “The Miz” Mizanin from WWE was the best option to provide a one-on-one interview with PGA Tour 2K21 cover star Justin Thomas. The Miz got JT’s thoughts on landing the cover and being in the video game while we also got some new looks at the visuals in 2K21.
The Miz goes one-on-one with PGA Tour 2K21 cover star Justin Thomas
While The Miz is typically always in character and ready to brag about being the best in the wrestling ring, Justin Thomas is much more humble. That was the case in the latest interview as JT spoke about how great it is to be PGA Tour 2K21 cover star. The Miz brought up previous 2K cover athletes including Michael Jordan, LeBron James, John Cena, and The Rock.
Thomas said it doesn’t seem right being mentioned in the same sentence with those guys, but once Miz asked him who would own the golf course, he admitted he’s the guy. The Miz also realized he’d need a major handicap to even compete.
Other topics covered include the customizable MyPlayer that will be a major component of PGA Tour 2K21, as well as Miz challenging Thomas to some real golf. Check out the complete video below which also has a few more looks at the game itself.
The video checks in at five minutes and gives some different camera angles of the various courses. They look gorgeous to say the least. We’re expecting more of that will be on the way in the coming weeks.
Unfortunately, the video didn’t provide us a look at some head-to-head gameplay between The Miz and Justin Thomas. We’re hoping the PGA Tour 2K21 cover star gets a chance to hop on the sticks against the Miz and show his stuff.
It’s also interesting to see 2K bringing in WWE’s The Miz for this. It’s clear he’s a major golf fan, though, and this could be a new cross-promotional effort as 2K looks towards their new WWE 2K Battleground game. Perhaps 2K will also have someone associated with the NBA such as cover star Anthony Davis or rookie Zion Williamson in a future video with JT?
PGA Tour game release date details
We showed off the game’s official trailer not long ago. With PGA Tour 2K21 cover athlete Justin Thomas on the front of all editions, the game officially arrives on August 21. It’s going to be available for the Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox One, Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, and PCs via Steam.
There is a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. The Standard Edition costs $59.99, while the Digital Deluxe is $69.99. The more expensive digital version has bonus content such as a Golden Touch Pack with gold-plated driver and putter to customize MyPlayer as well as 2,300 additional currency to unlock other gear.
Pre-orders are mostly available for both versions of the game, with the exception of PS4 for Digital. That is “coming soon” per the official 2K pre-order website.
The game will feature a number of real PGA golfers who have yet to be fully confirmed. We know Justin Thomas is among those featured players. We also have a confirmed PGA Tour courses list. Most likely we’ll see more details released in the lead-up to the game.
