Fallout 76 player shops, or player vending in general, is a feature which fans have been requesting since launch, perhaps even earlier. Although players can trade in the game, the system is relatively rudimentary. However, the game’s next patch will finally allow players to set up their own shops, with vending machines used to dispense items for sale.
Fallout 76 Player Shops are Coming in Patch 9
Bethesda recently revealed details about the upcoming Fallout 76 player shops in their preview of Patch 9, which is coming on the 7th of May. Among the features coming in the patch, this new system will allow players to use their C.A.M.P. as a shop; a setup made much easier by the recent change which made C.A.M.P. immune to PvP damage unless the attacker is considered hostile to the owner. Rather than using the existing player trading system as a base for the vending system, Bethesda has chosen to attach it to a new type of structure.
When Patch 9 launches, players will be able to construct special Vending Machines in their C.A.M.P. Once you have one of these machines, you can assign items in your Stash to it and assign their different prices. The items will stay in your Stash, but will be marked. With that done, you can simply leave your C.A.M.P. and head out into Appalachia. Whenever another player stops by your C.A.M.P. and buys something from your vending machine, you’ll be notified. You will receive the amount of Caps paid -10%, a reduction which Bethesda hopes will; “maintain a healthy in-game economy.”
To make your vending machine easier to find, once you build one, your C.A.M.P. will be marked on the map. (Although this mark is removed if you become Wanted.) Other players will be able to see your name, player icon, and items for sale via the map. Players will also be able to see the prices of the items on offer, so you won’t need to visit a marked C.A.M.P. just to find out if its inventory is worth your time.
