Earlier this month, we reported that Sony has revealed an official holiday 2020 release window for the PlayStation 5. The company did not yet provide an exact date, however, so we still do not know at what point during the holiday season it will be possible to purchase the next-generation console. But now, there is a PlayStation 5 release date rumor which homes in on a more specific possible release timeframe for the PS5.
This Is When the PlayStation 5 Release Date Might Be
TweakTown published the rumor, with the author stating, “Sony itself has confirmed the new PlayStation 5 console will be out in Holiday 2020 but according to my industry sources we are to expect a firm December 2020 release … My sources stated that Sony’s next-gen PS5 will release “in December” but didn’t provide an exact date. I would dare say it would be early December, but I also feel like December is too late.”
We share this feeling. A lot of people do their holiday shopping earlier than December, and might already have blown through their budgets by the time that the month rolls around. Indeed, a release date in December would miss Black Friday, which doesn’t seem all that logical.
The source site has released some accurate leaks in the past concerning the console’s hardware. But when you consider that the site itself has urged caution in accepting this leak as truth, that means that you should take it with a major grain of salt.
We really hope that Sony will not take until December to release the PlayStation 5, and that the PS5 release date will be in November or even (let’s hope) in October. As we wait to find out, catch up on the latest news on the PlayStation 5 in our PlayStation news section. A lot of information came out just the other week when Sony revealed the holiday release window, so you’ll want to learn all about the new controller and other features. Check back soon.
