Sony and Microsoft are competitors. Well, we might call them “bitter rivals.” But even bitter rivals can treat each other with respect. If you’re tired of listening to gamers tearing each other apart over the console war, we have something refreshing to share with you today. You wouldn’t expect that PlayStation replied to Xbox with support and friendship upon the release of Xbox Series X, but that’s exactly what Sony just did.
PlayStation Replies to Xbox With Support
You can view the tweet from Xbox along with the response from PlayStation below:
The announcement from Xbox is short and sweet: “we. have. launched. However you choose to play, happy gaming.” In reply, PlayStation simply posted the video of Jax’s “Friendship” from Mortal Kombat 11.
Most people hadn’t expected PlayStation to reply to the launch announcement tweet from Xbox at all, much less with something supportive and friendly. But it turns out that community spirit is alive after all, even between such big rivals. That sure is nice to see during a year that has been characterized by so many divisions. Plenty of gamers who replied to the tweets also were supportive of both consoles. Alas, of course, there were still plenty who weren’t.
With respect to issues such as cross-play, we certainly like to see these two companies actually getting along. The more cooperative their attitude, the easier it will probably make our lives as gamers, regardless of the platforms we choose.
Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S released on November 10th. PlayStation 5 will be releasing tomorrow, and will be available in both full and digital-only editions. You can follow more updates on both consoles in our PlayStation news section. We are about to discover what the future of gaming will be like.
