Pokemon GO’s AR features allow players to explore the world around them. For that reason, Niantic finds it important to properly celebrate festivities such as the Earth Day. They will do this by giving some great rewards for players who will help clean up their communities and make the world a better place.
Niantic Celebrates Day of Earth by Giving Rewards to Pokemon GO Players
The press release by Niantic talks about their upcoming plans for April. This marks the second time Niantic uses Pokemon GO to attempt to make the world a better place. “With thousands of players lending a hand across 68 events and countless NGOs leading the way, we collected 6.5 tons of garbage, making way for cleaner, healthier communities. To say we were proud of all of our players is an understatement.”
Now, Niantic expects to replicate the same amount of success once again with this new iteration of the event. “We’re inviting all Niantic players to participate and help battle important issues such as ocean pollution, damaged ecosystems, and unhealthy environments.” Pokemon GO and Ingress players will get in-game rewards for helping contribute. The following rewards are expected once attendee milestones are broken:
If 2,000 players attend and cleanup, global rewards will be:
- Pokémon GO – Increased appearances of Ground-type Pokémon
- Ingress – Increased probability of getting heatsinks, multihacks, shields (all kinds) and power cubes (all kinds including Lawson)
If 5,000 players attend and cleanup, global rewards will be:
- Pokémon GO – Shiny Diglett + Increased appearances of Ground-type Pokémon
- Ingress – 2× AP linking
If 7,000 players attend and cleanup, global rewards will be:
- Pokémon GO – 2× Stardust and Candy for Event Spawns / Groudon in Raids + Shiny Diglett + Increased appearances of Ground-type Pokémon
- Ingress – 2× AP fielding
