Pokemon GO Hits $1.8 Billion In Two Years, Still On Top

Pokemon GO is back on our radar, after Niantic’s recent updates bringing trading and friendship features to their famous mobile game. Saleswise, Pokemon GO isn’t far behind either as a statistics research revealed that it generated $1.8 billion as revenue since its release.

Undeniably, players are coming back to Pokemon GO this summer, to both take advantege of the new features and take part in the research field events that are over the next few weeks. Another reason for this sudden rise in numbers is the fact Pokemon Let’s Go: Eevee and Pikachu for Nintendo Switch will give you the opportunity to link the two games, possibly moving Pokemon from one game to another.

According to Sensor Tower, players worldwide continue to spend more than $2 million per day in their quest to catch Pokemon, hitting $1.8 Billion in two full years since its release. As expected, the first billion has been acquired in its first 6 months, given Pokemon GO’s popularity at that time.

The statistic also reveals that the United States and Japan lead all-time player spending in the game, accounting for 34 and 28 percent of its revenue across the App Store and Google Play, respectively. The next spots are taken by Germany, Great Britain and Taiwan, making the top 5 all-time player spending list.

Another interesting fact about Pokemon GO is that the game is still a top 10 app by revenue, ranking at No. 9 overall for the month of June, when it grossed an estimated $70 million worldwide. It might not be a #1 hit on mobile devices, however, managing to keep a steady spot on the hit list is a huge advantage to its popularity.

According to Sensor Tower, the game is in the App Store’s top 10 grossing charts on 21 countries, including the U.S., Great Britain, Germany, and Canada. It’s No. 14 on Japan’s top grossing iPhone app chart.
