Previous Xbox Marketing Director Talks Pricing and More for PS5

Been wondering how much the PS5 will cost? Posting on Reset Era, one previous Xbox marketing director named Albert Penello offered his thoughts. Penello spent 17 years with Microsoft before parting ways with the company in 2018. Let’s check out what he had to say about the PlayStation 5.

What the Previous Xbox Marketing Director Said Regarding PS5

Penello stated, “I think they are making a couple very smart moves, actually. Remember, I never thought it [the GPU] was going to be much over 9 teraflops so I’m not disappointed. If this thing is actually $399 I think it’s a great deal.”

So, that is some nice feedback from an industry pro. But that being said, at this point, $399 doesn’t sound like a very likely price for the PS5. It seems more likely that the launch price will be around $500. And what with possible manufacturing hiccups due to coronavirus, it is easy to visualize a scenario where supply is limited and demand is high. If that is the case, it is entirely possible that we could be looking at a price which is closer to $600.

Either way, given everything we have learned about the PS5 so far, it seems like a $500 to $600 price tag would be justified and worth it. So, $399 wouldn’t just be a good deal, it would be an amazing one, arguably a steal.

Since the future is pretty uncertain with respect to the launch date and price of PS5 and Xbox Series X, our suggestion is that you start saving up cash as soon as you can for your next gen console. In fact, by saving now, you are less likely to be caught off guard if the price for either exceeds $500 and ranges up toward $600. And if you manage to save up more than you need, you can always spend the rest on games. Keep up with our PlayStation news section.
