The release date for the upcoming Witcher Tabletop RPG was recently announced; the release is due to coincide with the annual Gen Con event. The RPG is the work of R. Talsorian Games, the company who created Cyberpunk 2020; the game on which Cyberpunk 2077 is based. The company has now announced the retail price of the upcoming tabletop game, as well as the date of a Q&A session with the lead developer.
The Witcher Tabletop RPG
The Witcher Tabletop Role-Playing Game is set to release at Gen Con, where it will be available in limited numbers from the R. Talsorian Games booth. The book will also become available online in PDF format. Physical copies from a second printing run will become available to order shortly after; once the company’s warehouse has been re-stocked.
Before all that, however, Cody Pondsmith, the Lead Developer for the game, has announced a Q&A session one week before the release. Pondsmith will answer questions about the upcoming RPG on the #randomworlds IRC channel. The session will be hosted by Dan Davenport, another tabletop game writer. That session is scheduled to start at 7:30pm Central (8:30 ET, 5:30 PT) on Monday the 25th of July. A transcript of the session will be made available afterwards.
As far as price is concerned, the Witcher Tabletop RPG will retail for $50.00. To coincide with this announcement, R. Talsorian Games released the book’s cover art and several additional pieces of artwork. Much of the artwork from the book has been taken from the Witcher Gwent card game; all of the art, in fact, was provided by CD Projekt Red. The Polish developer appears to be working closely with R. Talsorian Games on this project. Indeed, Mike Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk 2020 and father of Cody Pondsmith, is attached to the development of Cyberpunk 2077 in some capacity.
