DICE has confirmed that the next two Battlefield 5 maps, Lofoten Islands and Provence, will be coming in the game’s next update. This content release, Update 4.4, will also be bringing a series of important fixes; a remedy to address issues which have been lingering in the game since the Chapter 4 release. The studio recently published an open letter which explains more about Update 4.4 and the Battlefield 5 maps.
The Upcoming Lofoten Islands and Provence Battlefield 5 Maps
“Specifically designed for fans of tighter and tactical combat,” writes Senior Producer Ryan MacArthur; “these battlefields will let you charge through alleyways in occupied France and deploy right into fast-paced combat across two Norwegian islands. The infantry-only design of the maps means several flanking opportunities, but beware the ambushes and chokepoints.”
MacArthur subsequently confirmed that both of the new Battlefield 5 maps will arrive with the game’s next update; Update 4.4. Content creators and members of the press recently got the chance to try out the new maps at Gamescom 2019; suggesting that this new update could be coming to the game relatively soon. To begin with, only Team Deathmatch and Squad Conquest will be available for the maps. However, other modes could be added in the future.
Indeed, in the same post, MacArthur addressed the current lack of modes available in the Al Sundan map; the most recent of the Battlefield 5 maps to be added. “The map has not been available on all intended modes due to unwanted issues that came with Chapter 4,” he explained, referring to issues which should also be fixed with Update 4.4; “You can play on Al Sundan today on Squad Conquest and Team Deathmatch without that graphical problem, but we naturally want this map to function properly across all intended modes, such as Conquest, where this vast desert map really shines. The team is pushing to get the fix into our 4.6 release next month, but we can’t confirm that just yet.”
