PS4 Trophy List Releases for Fallout Shelter, Suggesting Upcoming Port

As Bethesda gears up for their E3 presentation tomorrow, some news may have leaked early. A PlayStation 4 trophy list appeared online yesterday for Fallout Shelter, listing the game’s trophies and seemingly revealing that a PS4 port of the highly successful title is about to be announced.

The thirty-six trophies clearly mirrors Fallout Shelter’s Xbox One achievements, so it doesn’t appear to be for a new game. Bethesda’s free-to-play mobile title, developed by Behaviour Interactive, launched on PC in 2016 and then on Xbox One last year. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a PlayStation port announced; each release happened roughly a year apart, starting with the title’s original 2015 launch on mobile devices.

Recapturing the Success of Fallout Shelter?

When the game first released it did extraordinarily well. The game managed to reach some 29 million players during Fallout Shelter’s first month alone. Granted, much of its success was likely due in part to the hype surrounding the release of Fallout 4; Fallout Shelter released just prior to the main title and featured heavily as part of Bethesda’s franchise marketing campaign.

Fallout Shelter Originally Released in 2015

Given how well it tied in to that campaign, it could explain why a PS4 port may be coming now. Fallout 76 has just been announced, and rumors suggest that it could release within the next few months. It could be that Bethesda wishes to recapture the circumstances of Shelter’s original success by tying it to the marketing for Fallout 76. Whether this is just an indication of an upcoming PS4 port, or a larger announcement, is unknown. It could be that the game is re-releasing with additional content to tie in once again with a Fallout release. Of course, it’s also possible that this is a mistake, or a hoax, but so far it looks relatively plausible.

Whatever the case may be, it now seems very likely that Fallout Shelter will feature in some way during Bethesda’s E3 presentation tomorrow.
