With the recent PS5 game reveal event, Sony has finally given players a proper look at the upcoming PS5 console itself. Until that event, Sony had only revealed the physical controller. However, while the console has now been shown, fans have yet to see the PS5 user interface; arguably something which players will interact with the most on the PS5.
The PS5 Interface Could be Revealed Soon
Fortunately, fans may not have to wait long before they get a look at the PS5 UI. PlayStation’s VP of UX Design, Matt MacLaurin, reportedly commented recently on LinkedIn that; “you’ll see our stuff soon”. This statement was also verified separately by TechRadar. He went on to state, in response to another comment; “We’ll show more of the OS soon!” According to MacLaurin, the PS5 UI will be totally different from that of the PS4. In his words, the UI will be; “a little more pragmative, but a 100% overhaul of PS4 UI and some very different concepts.”

Thus far, the PS5 appears to be a more major step forward than the current generation of consoles was than the last. Certainly, Sony’s effort to develop totally new hardware indicates a very major effort to invest in making the PS5 as powerful and advanced as possible. It would make sense, then, that Sony would take a similar approach to the PS5 UI. As such, MacLaurin’s comments aren’t exactly surprising.
For now, PlayStation fans will have to wait and see for whenever Sony does reveal the PS5 UI. In all likelihood, such a reveal could arrive in the same way that Sony has been delivering PS5 info thus far; via a pre-recorded video released online. In the wake of the physical console reveal, PlayStation may well seek to leverage the heightened attention from the public in the console to show off some of their other upcoming features.
