PS5 is the Top-Selling Console in the UK for Second Month Running
Right now, it is ridiculously hard to buy a PlayStation 5. That is true pretty much regardless of your location. Nevertheless, there are clearly lots of gamers who are able to buy the PS5, considering how strong the sales figures are. In fact, the PS5 is the top-selling console in the UK this month. It was last month as well, so that makes this the second month straight.
PS5 is the Top-Selling Console in the UK Again This Month
The information about the PS5 sales in the UK comes from gamesindustry.biz, which in turn states that its reference is GfK Entertainment data. March 2021 actually was one of the biggest months for sales for the console in the UK to date. Only November 2020, the month the console launched, beat it. Gamers are also buying up hardware for the PS5 in large quantities. Products that are flying off the shelves include the DualSense controller, the DualSense Charging Station, and the Pulse 3D Headset.
GfK Entertainment also provided info on game sales in the UK. Titles that have been doing well include Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on Nintendo, Monster Hunter Rise from Capcom, Spider-Man: Miles Morales from Sony, and Mario Kart 8: Deluxe on Nintendo.
Although PS5s and accessories are selling like hotcakes, gamers around the world remain frustrated by the lack of supply. Part of the problem is scalpers buying up consoles left and right. But the other issue is an ongoing microchip shortage that is affecting consoles and products in a wide range of other industries. Hopefully soon, production will be able to catch up again with demand with respect to microchips. Maybe then it will finally be easier to find a PS5 to purchase.
