The other day, we reported on a rumor that the Xbox Series X may be prone to overheating. This might leave you wondering about whether you should also be concerned about the PS5 doing the same. At this point, we don’t really know anything for certain. But we do know that Sony has been prioritizing providing the console with an efficient fan. And it turns out that there is another type of technology that could also keep Sony’s next gen console cool, and that is PS5 liquid metal.
Learn More About PS5 Liquid Metal Technology
Check out this tweet from Okami:
The text explains, “The #PS5 uses liquid metal to cool the SoC.” With it, there is a picture, apparently of the liquid metal technology.
Sony has discussed this technology, stating that “long-term, stable, high-cooling performance” is possible because of the liquid metal. Hopefully, it will live up to the company’s expectations. We certainly don’t want to go through the same unpleasantness with the PS5 as we have with the PS4. The PS4 heats up way too easily, and when the fan has to work hard, it sounds like there is an airliner parked in your living room.
We will be able to find out for ourselves if the PS5 liquid metal works when the PlayStation 5 launches on November 12th. You can get the digital-only version of the PS5 for just $399.99. If you want the full version that accepts optical discs, you will need to pay $499.99. As we get closer to the launch date, there should be a lot more news coming out about the PS5. You can keep up with updates in our PlayStation news section. We also will keep you posted on deals at the PlayStation Store as we move into the holiday season.
