A lot of gamers are especially looking forward to 4K gaming on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. But is it possible that PS5 may have 4K problems? According to a report from an industry insider who has apparently been speaking with developers about the matter, 4K performance on the PS5 could be a problem.
The PS5 May Have 4K Problems According to a New Report
Industry insider AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem made the following tweets:
The text says, “But people are should get ready for the really real possibility that the PS5 is going to end up being the more expensive console between the two, I’m trying not to say much here as I was asked not to but prepare yourself, which does put Xbox X in a position it’ll be the the less expensive and more powerful console. I used RE8 as an example, but I’ve heard from other devs that PS5 struggles with 4k games in particular so you’ll see a lot of fake 4k. That doesn’t matter to some, but get ready for that too. Xbox X doesn’t have the same problem.”
So, that is potentially concerning. Dusk Golem was not particularly specific about where he heard about this, aside from that the reports come from developers. He didn’t provide any technical details about the 4K issues either. So, we don’t have much to go on here. Alas, it is hard to blow off this rumor, because developers don’t really have any reason to lie about struggling with 4K. On the other hand, if PS5 really does have issues with 4K, that seems like a massive oversight from a performance standpoint. It is almost hard to believe Sony would compromise in this department.
We hope there will be some clarification soon and that we will see some evidence that PS5 does fine with 4K. Until then, we will keep you posted on any other PS5 developments in our PlayStation news section.
