It was clear back in July that we started seeing the first indications that we would be able to pre-order the PS5 soon. Now we are nearing the end of August, and still wondering when we will be able to get in our pre-orders. But it sounds like the wait might be coming to an end, at least if a recent rumor is anything to go by. Was the PS5 pre-order date revealed by a leak? Let’s take a closer look.
Was the PS5 Pre-Order Date Revealed by a Leak?
The leak regarding the PS5 pre-order date comes from @IronManPS5 on Twitter.
The tweet says, “Preorders for PlayStation 5 begin on September 9”
How likely is this leak to be correct? @IronManPS5 seems to have a mixed track record with PS5 predictions. Some people consider this source reliable while others do not. So, from that standpoint, we have no idea whether or not the prediction holds any weight.
Nonetheless, September 9th seems like a reasonable date. It is the 25th anniversary of PlayStation, as the first one released on September 9th, 1995 in North America. Plus, we are getting ever closer to the holiday 2020 release window, and it cannot be much longer now before Sony begins allowing pre-orders. Thus, September 9th seems like a good guess.
We would not be surprised if there are more pre-order date rumors in the coming days. If there are, we will keep you posted on them in our PlayStation news. In that section, you can also catch up on other PS5-related updates. And once pre-ordering does become available, we will let you know. You will probably want to make your pre-order as soon as you can. Sony is expecting high demand this holiday season, likely as a result of COVID-19. So, make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to get your PS5 right away!
