We’re just a few months away from the holiday season release window for the PlayStation 5. But there is so much we do not know yet, including how much it will cost and the exact release date. But could we be about to find out? According to a recent rumor, the PS5 price and release date could be revealed during an August event.
Will We Learn the PS5 Price and Release Date This Month?
The rumor of a big reveal event comes from a couple of tweets. The first comes from Tidux:
The text says, “PlayStation is preparing a show to do a tear down, BC info, more exclusives, release date and price. It was supposed to be shown early August. But will be shown after Xbox shows their hand first, late August to Early September.”
The other comes from Roberto Serrano:
It includes an image which says “Join us August 20th at 1:00 PM (PDT).” This image is not leaked. It is just a modified version of the notice which Sony used to promote the June “Future of Gaming” event.
How excited should you be? Don’t get too fired up. The reality is that neither of these two leakers have a solid track record. Indeed, Serrano thought pre-orders would start as early as July 13th. Obviously, that did not come to pass. Given that neither person appears to be a reliable source, we urge taking these rumors with a huge grain of salt. That being said, it wouldn’t be outlandish for Sony to make these announcements before August ends. But if they do, it will probably be a coincidence.
