When you put in a cross-platform title such as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, do you sometimes find yourself playing the wrong version of the game? With games that are available on PS4 and PS5, PS5 gamers sometimes discover they are playing the PS4 versions—oops. But now, there is a PS5 update that is preventing that problem with a simple prompt to switch to PS5 versions of games.
Switch to PS5 Versions of Games on PS5 Instead of Playing PS4 Versions by Mistake
You can see what the prompt looks like in this screenshot that user Tidux shared on Twitter:
The screenshot shows a prompt titled, “Confirm game version.” The text says, “You’re about to play the PS4 version of this game. Do you want to switch to the PS5 version?” You can then select either “Play PS4 Version” or “Switch to PS5 Version.”
This prompt should stop you from ever mistakenly starting up the PS4 version of a game on your PS5 again. And best of all, all it takes is a single click. This should prevent a lot of hassles and confusion going forward!
