If you’re someone who typically trades items with others in PUBG, that’s all been halted for a brief period, according to developer PUBG Corp. In an announcement on the official PUBG website, the developer discussed the decision and what lead to it, citing issues with players using the function to sell actual items using third-party sites. In a nutshell, it can all be traced to people who have to misuse a certain function for their own gain or to cheat in some way. Don’t act like that surprises you in any way, because it absolutely shouldn’t.
“We’ve seen a few cases of players using the personal trade function to sell items using third party sites,” PUBG Corp. said in the blog post on the official PUBG website.“This is essentially an abuse of the system. To prevent this, we’re temporarily turning off personal trades while we search for a better solution. Once we figure out a way to prevent abuse, the restriction will be lifted.”
So while the functionality has been removed for a period of time, there’s no information out there currently on when we can expect it to be brought back. The PUBG Steam Marketplace, however, hasn’t been affected and appears to be operating normally. It brings in additional revenue for the game, so of course it’s left open for now — players and PUBG Corp. together both make additional money from the service, so this is going to be something that you know PUBG Corp. will be keeping an eye on and monitoring so that it can be brought back as soon as possible.
