For a while, we’ve been calling PUBG’s upcoming new map Codename: Savage by just that: its codename. It probably never occurred to most of us that in the future that name was actually going to change. It looks like that day has come, as PUBG Corp. has announced the map’s official name: Sanhok. It’s pronounced “sah-nok,” and it’s going to be open to testing for a whole lot more players coming very soon.
PUBG Corp. explains in its official blog post via Steam that the name Sanhok came about as a combination of two words: the Thai word for “fun” and the Filipino word for “chicken.”
“First, the Thai word for “fun:” สนุก (pronounced like “sah-nook”). Second, the Filipino (Tagalog) word for “chicken:” manok (pronounced like “mah-nok”),” the blog post explained. It’s an intriguing name, and it’s certainly different and unlike anything we’ve seen before in-game.
"Savage" was just a codename. Our new 4x4km island map will return for testing soon but this time with its final name: Sanhok (pronounced “sah-nok”). https://t.co/MfRyLpD5wD pic.twitter.com/bqHQC1jXlY

But the most exciting portion of the announcement that comes in tandem with the n name change is the fact that Sanhok is getting a new testing round. This time, anyone who owns a copy of PUBG will be able to get in on the test. In fact, the Closed Experimental Server is changing into the Experimental Server, which will be showing up in your Steam library in the near future. The new testing schedule will be as follows:
TESTING BEGINS:
THURS May 10, 7pm PDT / FRI May 11, 4am CEST / May 11, 11am KST
TESTING ENDS:
MON May 14, 4am PDT / May 14, 1pm CEST / May 14, 8pm KST
Sanhok’s full debut is coming soon, so if you can’t wait to try out something different from Erangel and Miramar, the time is nearly at hand! Hopefully that means we’ll get beyond three maps too, one day.
