It’s no secret that Rage 2 will be an incredibly ridiculous and silly post-apocalyptic shooter title. The game’s previously announced Collector’s Edition is proof enough of that. However, publisher Bethesda has now announced a pre-order bonus which somehow makes Rage 2 even *more* ridiculous. If you want all your crazy-kill action to be commentated by the voice of NBA Jam, you’ll want to pre-order the game for sure.
Rage 2 He’s On Fire Pre-Order Bonus
All Rage 2 pre-orders will come with what Bethesda and id Software have dubbed the He’s On Fire cheat code. Enabling the code activates a running play-by-play commentary which highlights all of the player’s explosive carnage. Even better, said commentary is provided by none other than Tim Kitzrow, the iconic voice of the NBA Jam franchise.
As you can see in the below announcement trailer, Kitzrow has enthusiastic quips primed for all your destructive kills. Whip out a flamethrower and Kitzrow enthusiastically yells “he’s heating up!” Decapitate a distant foe with the bladed boomerang and you’ll get a “you just sliced her head right off.” Blow up some baddies with a rocket launcher and it’s “BOOMSHAKALAKA!” for days.
The above trailer is certainly fun, but the breadth of Kitzrow’s commentary is still an important unknown. After all, it might get a little repetitive if Kitzrow only has one quip for each player action. The commentary could also be a bit jarring for first-time players who actually care about Rage 2’s story. However, enabling He’s On Fire could be perfect for a second playthrough or when gaming with your friends.
Rage 2 doesn’t launch until May 14 so there’s still plenty of time to pre-order. The shooter sequel will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. While you wait, be sure to watch the game’s most recent 10-minute pre-beta gameplay video.
