The summer season is really starting to heat up, so if you’d rather head inside and cool off with a little Rainbow Six Siege gameplay, you’ll be happy to hear that Ubisoft has added in a special limited-time ‘Sunsplash’ collection of cosmetic items. Even better, you can unlock several of the new Sunsplash items simply by logging into Siege.
According to the dedicated Sunsplash thread over on the official Rainbow Six Siege subreddit, there are 12 new items in total: six Rare quality items, four Epic items, and two Legendary items. The items themselves are comprised of operator uniforms and headgear for the operators Lesion, Dokkaebi, and IQ, weapon skins for weapons wielded by IQ, Vigil, Lesion, and Dokkaebi, and a series of charms that can be applied to any available weapon. Overall, the new items allow players to display a more fun, carefree side to the game’s operators, leaning away from the more serious, tactical bent of other cosmetics.
Sadly, the Sunsplash packs are implemented in a similar manner as the Outbreak packs that were introduced earlier this year, which means they cannot be earned through gameplay, they have to be purchased via real-money microtransactions. However, all Siege players will receive two Sunsplash packs for free as long as they log in before the end of the Sunsplash event (July 17), and the packs are dupe-protected so you’re always guaranteed to get a new item. If you want to purchase all of the remaining Sunsplash packs, it will cost you 2,700 R6 Credits which equates to about $23.
In other Rainbow Six Siege news, the game just received a substantial new update, Operation Para Bellum, last month. Along with that, the game has also received a revenue-sharing program which should help in supporting Siege’s Esports economy and pro players.
