Ubisoft has unveiled the first details for Rainbow Six Siege’s next expansion, with a larger reveal scheduled for late November. Siege’s next major expansion is titled Operation Wind Bastion and it takes players to the desert region of Morocco.
Rainbow Six Siege Operation Wind Bastion Reveal
According to this blog post from Ubisoft, the Morocco region factors heavily into Operation Wind Bastion’s overall theme. The expansion’s new map is an isolated retreat called “Fortress.” Morocco’s own GIGR (Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Royale) organization also hosts the expansion’s two new operators.
The new defender operator is male and he’s also apparently a GIGR Commander. He’s “strict and imposing,” but he also inspires respect among the troops under his command. This leads us to believe his unique operator ability involves buffing his allies in some way.
As for the new Attacker operator, she’s a woman “who travels wherever the wind takes her.” The blog post also mentions how she’s an explorer, an environmental operations expert, and a resourceful combatant. Our guess is that she’ll be a highly mobile Attacker with an operator ability that’s capable of surprising her opponents.
Operation Wind Bastion is the fourth major expansion for Rainbow Six Siege’s third year of content updates. The expansion will get a proper reveal during the November 17-18 R6 Pro League finals. If you can’t attend the finals in person, Ubisoft will stream the entire event from the Rainbow Six Twitch channel.
Meanwhile, Ubisoft is also busy supporting Siege’s recently launched Operation Grim Sky expansion. Siege’s development team has also implemented an ongoing price cut for all of the game’s Year 1 operators. Operation Grim Sky added in two operators of its own, a rework of the Hereford Base map, and more.
Rainbow Six Siege is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Operation Wind Bastion will likely be the final expansion of 2018.
