A recent tweet from Rainbow Six Siege’s Twitter account sure seems to be teasing a pair of new operators. The timing of the tweet also indicates that Ubisoft will be unveiling Siege’s next season in the near future. Judging from the tweet’s accompanying gif, at least one of the new operators will have a strong disposition towards stealth.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 4 Season 2 Operator Tease
Even though it reveals so little, the tweet’s accompanying gif sure is fun to look at. The gif shows a swirling tunnel of fog and what appears to be a pool of water. One of the new operators is emerging from the pool and holding some sort of light-emitting gadget. The other operator is standing on solid ground and facing the first operator. If you look closely, the second operator is also holding something in their hand.
Despite its sparse nature, there’s a lot to glean from the Rainbow Six Siege gif. The water-submerged operator is clearly a master of striking from unconventional angles. However, their tricks apparently won’t work on the second operator, hence why they’re facing each other in the gif. Siege technically doesn’t have any sort of underwater navigation elements (at least for now). However, the gif still illustrates that stealth and subterfuge are big themes for Year 4 Season 2.
Hidden Clues
A recent CGI trailer for Rainbow Six Siege also contained hidden clues regarding the new operators’ identities and roles. We know for certain that one of the new operators is a former member of the U.S. Secret Service. The second operator, meanwhile, hails from the country of Denmark. Fans have also gleaned the following unverified information:
- The Secret Service operator is a defender who can deploy optical devices that are immune to flashbangs and smoke.
- The Danish operator is an attacker who moves silently and doesn’t show up on enemy camera feeds.
Again, the above bullet points are unverified, so take them with a grain of salt. That being said, the Rainbow Six Siege tweet does seem to corroborate some of the above leaked info. It sure looks like the second operator knows the first operator is coming despite their stealthy approach. On the flip side, though, the leaked info makes the Danish operator sound too similar to existing operator Vigil.
We hopefully won’t have to wait to find out more about Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 4 Season 2 content update. Chances are Ubisoft will have more to share during the upcoming Pro League Finals which run from May 18-19. In the meantime, Siege’s most recent content release, Operation Burnt Horizon, is still going strong.
Update: Ubisoft has announced that Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 4 Season 2 operation is called Operation Phantom Sight. The new Danish attacker is a stealth expert called Nøkk. A full reveal for Operation Phantom Sight is scheduled for May 19 during the Six Pro League Finals.
