Rainbow Six Siege’s next major content expansion will be an Italy-themed update called Operation Para Bellum. Among other things the expansion will introduce a new Villa map, a Pick & Ban system for competitive play, and perhaps most exciting of all, two new playable operators who hail from the Italian Gruppo Intervento Speciale (G.I.S.) unit. Now, Ubisoft has revealed the identity of one of those two new operators: a female operator who goes by the codename Alibi.
According to Ubisoft’s announcement post, Alibi’s real name is Aria de Luca, and her unique skills include a mastery of firearms she cultivated at a young age and a strong aptitude for infiltrating organized crime networks before dismantling them from within. From a gameplay perspective, Alibi will be a Defender class operator who specializes in putting pressure on the attacking team, forcing them to act sooner than intended and, hopefully, make a fatal mistake in the process.
Ubisoft hasn’t yet revealed what Alibi’s unique gadget will be, though a new image and teaser trailer included in the above announcement post hint at some sort of holographic decoy that can trick enemy players into firing their weapons and giving away their position. The trailer also suggests that some sort of penalty will be automatically inflicted on an enemy player who shoots a decoy, though at this point that’s merely speculation.
Alibi’s unveiling falls in line with information that data miners were able to uncover from Rainbow Six Siege’s PC version back in March. According to the mined data, Operation Para Bellum’s second Italian operator will be codenamed Maestro, though that’s all the information the data miners were able to dig up. Fortunately, R6 Siege fans won’t have to wait long to find out the full story as Ubisoft plans to fully unveil Alibi (and hopefully Maestro) during this upcoming weekend’s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League Finals tournament which will be held from May 19-20.
