Earlier this week, we shared news about Rainbow Six Siege’s newest playable operator Alibi, one of the two new operators hailing from the Italian Gruppo Intervento Speciale (G.I.S.) who will be included in Siege’s upcoming Operation Para Bellum update. We also mentioned in the Alibi reveal how data miners had discovered that the second Italian operator could be a man with the codename ‘Maestro,’ and now it looks like that information has proven to be accurate.
Maestro’s real name is Adriano Martello according to Ubisoft’s new reveal post, and he will be a Defender class operator who is at his best when he’s paired with his partner Alibi (hence why they’re both Defenders). Much as was the case with the earlier Alibi reveal, Ubisoft is keeping Maestro’s unique gadget a mystery for now, though both the reveal post description and the below teaser trailer seem to infer that he’ll utilize some sort of remote weapon (perhaps a turret?) and that he’ll be able to “see through smoke and mirrors,” suggesting that he (or perhaps his remote weapon) will be immune to the effects of distraction-based gadgets.
Siege fans won’t have to wait long to get the full scoop on Maestro and Alibi as Ubisoft is planning a full reveal of the Operation Para Bellum expansion during the Rainbow Six Siege Pro Finals on Sunday, May 20. Along with the two new Italian operators, Operation Para Bellum will add in a new Villa map, a Pick & Ban system that will allow players to counter opponents by banning specific operators, and a series of tweaks and buffs for existing operators (Echo, for example, will be getting a second Yokai drone).
Operation Para Bellum is the second in a series of new content expansions Ubisoft plans to release for Rainbow Six Siege throughout 2018. Earlier this year, Operation Chimera introduced a limited-time co-op mode called Outbreak and two operators who hailed from the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Threat Unit.
