Rapper The Game Gave Up Millions of Dollars to Play NBA 2K

If you had to pick between your favorite video game and millions of dollars, what would you choose? For most of us, that would be a pretty tough decision, involving deep soul-searching. But for rapper The Game, the choice was simple. Faced with that decision, he decided to give up millions of dollars so he could play NBA 2K. Let’s check out more about his dramatic choice.

Rapper The Game Preferred to Play NBA 2K Rather Than Making Millions

Complex was interviewing The Game recently. During the course of the interview, he said he had to choose between striving for “hit Legend” status in NBA 2K or going on a tour worth $6-7 million. He decided to forgo the tour and shoot for “hit Legend” instead. Below, you can watch the interview.

To achieve this status in NBA 2K, The Game had to achieve rank 40 in four seasons. Needless to say, quite a bit of grinding was involved. That year, not only did he accomplish his goal in NBA 2K, but he was the first player to do so. Did he have any regrets afterward from giving up millions of dollars? No. He was not all that keen on touring anyway when he chose the game over the millions, nor did he really need the money.

It must be pretty awesome to be doing well enough financially to be able to turn down millions of dollars without batting an eye. Most of us would not have that luxury. Even if we did choose our favorite game, it would be painful to give up so much opportunity. We are glad The Game was able to have fun playing NBA 2K, and it is a cool story to hear as we await the release of NBA 2K23. Check out everything we know about NBA 2K23 so far.
