The Recommended Level for Each Fallout 76 Map Region

The Fallout 76 map of Appalachia is roughly divided into six different zones. While it isn’t necessarily clear on the in-game map; each of these regions loosely caters for a certain level of player. As a result, there are some regions which players would do best to steer clear of until they reach a certain level. Otherwise, they may run into more trouble than they can handle.

A Guide to the Recommended Level for Each Fallout 76 Map Region

A map of Appalachia which outlines the game’s six regions and includes a rough guide to their level brackets was recently posted on Reddit by a Redditor who goes by “TheRealBoylston”; the map isn’t official per se, but it does a good job of indicating to players where they should avoid until they reach a particular level. The six map regions and their level brackets are as follows:

Fallout 76 Map Part 2

  • The Forest: The game’s starting area, wherein you first emerge from Vault 76. This region is easily the safest in the game, with a minimum level of 1 and a rough maximum of 10. Beyond that, you may find that the Forest doesn’t offer much in the way of challenge. Nonetheless, it’s a good place to start before you head north.
  • The Toxic Valley: Located due north of the Forest, this wasteland has a minimum recommended level of about 10. It should provide a challenge for players up to level 25.
  • The Savage Divide: Perhaps the largest of Fallout 76’s six regions, the Savage Divide spans the entire map from north to south; dividing the Forest, Toxic Valley, and Ash Heap from the Mire and Cranberry Bog. Try not to wander into this waste until you reach level 15. This is one of three regions which has no recommended maximum level; it should continue to provide a challenge no matter what level you are.
  • The Ash Heap: Due south of the Forest is this dusty region. 25 is the minimum level you should be. The Ash Heap is also the last region with a recommended maximum; 35. At that point, you may wish to cross the Savage Divide.
  • The Mire: You should avoid this swamp until around level 30. Like the Savage Divide, it has no maximum recommended level.
  • The Cranberry Bog: This vivid marsh has the highest recommended minimum level in the game at 35. Like the Savage Divide and the Mire, it has no maximum recommended level.
