Once you reach your home base of Prosperity in Far Cry New Dawn, you’ll be introduced to the new settlement upgrade system. By taking back ethanol from Highwaymen outposts, the player can upgrade the various facilities within the walls of Prosperity, including a garage, medicinal herb garden, helicopter, and more. However, some of these facilities also require you to recruit a particular individual, known as a Settler, from somewhere out in Hope County. Most likely the first Settler you’ll come across, Bean is the founder of ‘Wiki-Bean-ia,’ an intel and scouting network inspired by the business model of Wikipedia.
Bean and the Far Cry New Dawn Wiki-Bean-ia Intel and Mapping Network
The first step to recruiting Bean is to hear about him from one of his scouts. Fortunately, there will be a Wiki-Bean-ia scout waiting to talk to you in Prosperity after you finish speaking with Kim Rye; just look out for their trademark blue and yellow outfits. If you miss the scout in Prosperity, you’ll likely come across more of Wiki-Bean-ia scouts in Hope County who will also direct you to Bean. The Wiki-Bean-ia founder is living in a house north of Prosperity. Wiki-Bean-ia scouts are a common sight in Hope County, and you can often talk to them to find out about nearby side quests, the locations of Guns-for-Hire, or resource stashes. After all, they provide their information for free in the hope that grateful people will donate to their group.
When you arrive, Bean is in a panic because the Highwaymen have taken all of his maps and plans. Worst of all, his “business plan” has gone missing, and he suspects one of his associates who has had a recent gambling problem. He’ll send you after this gambler, and it doesn’t take long to reach where he’s losing a game to a group of Highwaymen. He has already lost the clothes on his back, leaving him in his underwear, and when you attack the Highwaymen, he flees in a panic. Deal with the Highwaymen, but don’t stop to loot the place; he is your objective and you’ll fail the mission if he gets too far away!
Recovering the Business Plan and Recruiting Bean
Follow the semi-naked scout through the trees and down to the river, where he comes to a halt and you can speak to him about the business plan. He will admit his faults and promise never to gamble again, before revealing that the plan is in a nearby bunker. Follow the quest marker to the bunker, where you’ll find that the Highwaymen have arrived first. The raiders have torched the ruins above, but the bunker is still accessible. Head down the hatch into the burning bunker, taking care to avoid the flames, and look for the business plan in an open safe near the back.
Once you have Bean’s business plan, he’ll radio you to let you know that he’s nearby. In fact, he’s only a short distance away, working on a car. Once you hand over the plan, Bean will thank you and agree to join the other survivors at Prosperity. He can subsequently be found at the mapping station in Prosperity. There, you can purchase maps of various different points of interest, including collectable locations, resource cache locations, and so on.
